Snapping out

In order to fight this impending funk I feel I'm slipping into...(like scary fastly) I'll keep busy. That should work right??? and I mean busy! I have so many works in progress that I'm ashamed at myself! I should make a list in my sidebar with progress bars so I feel shammed into finishing! good ol' shame and guilt...(thanks Catholicism) cures all.
This is one thing I'm working on...entrelac baby blanket.

I'm tired! how is this my life?

Saturday Mornings are spent at the park...chore, I know. All though the day "looked" was FREEZING out! and windy.
See the catcher...last name MORGAN.
He's mine...and he's 10
After the game...(that they lost) I headed out to a much needed girl date. With Sisters in tow and the niece. We lunched/dinnered on some...Soup, Salad, Breadsticks!
(care of the Olive Garden)
Lunch was just what I needed after the week of hell I'd had. Kids! that's all I'm saying.
I'm hoping Sunday brings more of the same.

Taken over...

I've become completely obsessed by these bags! I love making them...and slowly my sewing is getting better! This bag is MINE! my husband took one look at it and said "That one is yours. You like those colors" and I do! the only thing that's not working for me is the just seems too dark?

and yes I am crocheting...I'm working on the Christin Crop from Blueprint Crochet by Robyn Chachula. If you don't own this book yet, you should! the designs are gorgeous! Take a look for yourself.

Oh sew crafty...

I had a great weekend! I have every other Friday off and this Friday was my off. I went supply shopping with the sister, she requested 2 bags.

and my (current) favorite, the Lots of pockets
The fabric choices were hers...with minimal (lots) of help from me.

I also finished a GIANT (Really! BIG) crocheted beach bag that I promised...I think it looks really fun but did I mention that it's HUGE!

no quilting work lately...but I will this weekend. I have 3 quilts started so I better get moving!
Saturday was all about sunburns and baseball! My sister came over for a visit...they stayed and watched the boys' baseball games and got pretty nasty sunburns in the process! That's what happens when we spend all day at the park! We hit Walmart for some nourishment and came home with pizzas and strawberry shortcake! spent the rest of the evening crafting and watching Lake View Terrace.
Sunday was spent with the Tanaka's...BBq'd tri tip is yummy! It was nice to hang out with most of the family...I don't realize I miss it until I do it.

In preparation

Just getting the blog ready. I want a similar look in all the places that I've made. So if/when I open my Artfire Store, I'll be easily recognized.

Oh smug!

Remember me...and how I bragged about the blanket I was making, the one I thought I didn't have enough yarn for?
Sure didn't! and I found this out at 10 pm last night...too late for a Joann run. Did I mention the shower was at lunch time today? No? well it was I figured I could run to Joann's by work and get me a Caron one pound in Rose...good plan. Nope! Dang you Valencia!!! They don't carry Rose! So I drive to Michael's...they'll have it! NOPE!!! but I did have a swatch so I matched it as closely as possible...(failed miserably)
I figured I would eat cake and duck out early work through lunch and have it ready for him in the afternoon?! YES! mission accomplished!
For Miranda Griffith

(sorry, lighting sucks in the conference rooms)
I hope they like it?!

I'm working on a CROCHETed blanket! I know shocking, right...I'm using a pattern from owlishly (love her stuff!) the pattern is called Cobijita florecita (flower baby blanket)'s very easy to follow and I've made huge progress. My only concern is that I'm running out of yarn!
This is what I have so far...I've made seven and I'm working on the 8th now but I'm supposed to have 10! if I have too I might just make it smaller with the 8? and see how it looks.

bags 2 - loremor 0

They beat me...I was trying so very hard but I was not able to fight with them any longer. I decided to branch out a little and make another type of bag. I mean I LOVE the Amy Butler, birdie sling but I wanted to try so thing new. I've had my eye on the beautiful purse patterns by Keyka lou so I figured I'd give one a try...

I used the sweetheart shopper pattern.

and yes, that is a zipper and I can safely say that I WILL NEVER make anything that requires a zipper again! This is the better one of the two...same pattern.

So I was feeling sorry for myself...I thought "I'll just make a birdie sling! I can practically make them in my sleep!" NOPE!!! I screwed that up too! I was having a horrible friday/saturday! I'm still reworking the sling so I have no pictures (or none that I'll actually post!)

When I look at my son, it's like looking in the mirror. He looks nothing like me...all dad. But sometimes I feel as though he's my reflection. He struggles...with school, with his emotional well-being and self-esteem. I see myself in him everyday and it makes me sad. I know how hard his life will be...but how do I help him? How can I prevent all the hardship he is sure to endure...I know it. I live it. Will I be able to explain it to him...prevent it somehow? My dad struggled so much with me...did he see himself in me? He's never said. His tactics didn't work with me...he is old-school, Mexican through and through. I will not resort to that. But I want my son to make it, to be someone and I don't want it to come to late. As it has with me.
I just needed to talk to someone...and it's easier to open up here.
