How Exciting...

In all my weekend excitement...I forgot the big news! My sister is pregnant! and you can bet I'm gearing up for a VERY crafty pregnancy...cause what are aunts for?! Now, I requested a boy but my sister is so unreliable (wink) who knows what she'll do!
Head over there and congratulate her...I'm sure she'll appreciate it.

Hitting, pitching and running...

How do kids have to ability to take you from absolutely "had it" to so immensely proud!? I think I've mentioned on here my struggles with "D" and his lack of interest and focus. Well unbeknown to us...he had a qualifying competition at his school for the MLB Pitch, Hit and Run. That he won! He then got to compete in the Sectionals which was held at our local Jethawks Stadium, holiday weekend and all.

He did the running...got a score.
(no picture of this...because let's face it...he's not very fast! Just picture the roadrunner...you know, how his legs move REALLY fast but the top goes nowhere? like that)

He did the pitching...got a score.

He did the hitting...got a score.
and then they tallied all the scores for a grand total of...

HE WON! for his age division!

So Proud!

round and round

This block goes to Courtney's quilt. I had no problems putting this one together...I did however try something new, embroidery. I don't know...not too sure about it yet.

Inexperienced

I'd like to ask you a question...Does thisResemble this?
If you maybe squint your eyes (shut) and use your imagination?
The around the world quilt is making is around...and I've just received a block. The instructions where a house, not matchy, or too modern. I think I've got the not matching down pat! but do the colors work? I feel so inexperienced! I have no idea how to put something like this together...I just did my best. Lucky for me, I have a week to decide if I'm sending on it's next stop or if I'm re-doing the whole darn thing! like maybe after I get some instructions!

What do you think?

Also I'm dangerously close to my 100th post! It very exciting!!!

11

What a fun day Tuesday turned out to be. My little boy turned 11...and as depressed as that made me we decided he needed to go to Six Flags Magic Mountain!
We all played hooky and headed to the park after a million pit stops...I know you can't tell from the picture but yes I was there too...

Every time I've been to six flags, we enter the park and go right...ALWAYS! So first stop Picture opt. at toon town but just quickly because it's for babies... ugh! 11 year olds!
then it was off to batman...he liked that he didn't even need to check if he was tall enough to ride!
(with the Riddler)
At the gates ready to ride! He wanted the front row seats!
or the back row...

even got a taste of 16...

Happy Birthday Kid! I know you had a blast!

How long...

I just never know with this things...but what's the ideal length (and width, for that matter) of a baby blanket? (gutter-minds-ladies!) Still hooking along on the entrelac baby blanket I started last week. What do you think the chances are that my SIL will pick these colors for her new baby girl?? What do you think the chances are that she might get it anyway...whatever the colors she picks!?!?!? What would you do? I've been thinking of just finishing it off and storing it...

But I really worked hard and it's just too cute to not give it away?!

Loose Teeth Vintage Inspired Sundress with Petticoat GUEST GIVEAWAY!!!!

Loose Teeth Vintage Inspired Sundress with Petticoat GUEST GIVEAWAY!!!!

Around the world...

I think I might have mentioned that I signed up for a quilting swap? I think I might have a button over on the right? Did I tell you how excited I am about it? How about, that I have to mail out my starter block by the 18th of this month? Well, it's all true!

I sat down yesterday, after I got some ideas from all the awesome blocks the ladies have put together, and made my own. It's not perfect but then neither am I, so I LOVE it. I can't wait to see how each and everyone of the ladies adds to my block.

Now it off to Nann, she'll add to it and pass it on it's next stop around the world! How cool is that!

I'm anxiously awaiting a block from Debby (?), I'll add to hers and pass it on it way around the world. Each block has 20 stops and at the end we end up with a beautifully unique quilt top?!

...not another manic monday!

I'm liking this new me! the one that looks for the positives...no more negatives! Buck up and up and at em'! Once more around...

I've started another entrelac blanket...no destined owner but my hands just wanted to keep stitching.

I'm also in the process of starting the around the world quilt swap...I'm not sure what I want my starter square to look like...and it's important because that's how everyone else will add to it, depending on the look of your starter square. I consider myself fun and funky...but my quilt square knowledge is almost non-existent! Let's hope I come up with something awesome!!!

To all you Mothers

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!

I hope you ladies had an excellent day?! I'm off to BBQ with my mom I hope she likes her gift...

Picnic anyone...my mom always has a small blankie in the car with her in case she needs to nap in the morning or when my dad cranks the A/C and she gets chilly.

Upwards and onwards...

Baby steps...
Once around the building...it felt really good to be OUT. Now I'll work on the food...I use food too, Cristina. It's like I'm punishing myself so I stay the way I am, instead of working hard to be the way I want to be.
and Lisette...I think I'm not talking about what you want me to be. I'm guarded now...I didn't used to be. I trusted...everything, always and I never measured up. I was made to feel inferior, only I never said anything or complained...I just tried harder. But I just didn't know the reasons and you're right, I probably still don't. I only have one side of that story...but it's the only side I was told. I let go of that a long time ago...I'm now haunted by my actions. That's where my guilt and shame come from...and the self-sabotage. But no more...

In hiding...

I know what I'm hiding from...everyone. My only question is why??? It's been a while, everyone seems to have moved on...why not me? Why must I still feel shame? and why do I sabotage myself? I should be happy, right? when do I start?! more like "HOW" do I start? Words are powerful people! Be careful what you spew...of the damage it will cause.

Today, I resolve to start over...I want to be seen!!! I AM worth it!

Wanna Swap?

Quilt squares...come on guys! Summersadie is hosting the Quilt around the world and it looks like it will be fun. Are you in?

Mad rush...

and the pain of it all! The entrelac blanket I was working on last week was for my cousins baby shower on Saturday at 3 pm. I started it Monday night and I don't know about you but for me entrelac is VERY slow...kinda like knitting. I thought I'd be cutting it close but I would get it done...no problem. Well, I was setting myself up to fail. On Wednesday I bought the cowboy quilt supplies...you know just in case, I would still have a present to give. I did finish that Friday, all the while still working on the crochet.

See...first in line at the 5:40pm showing of X-MEN Origins- Wolverine! (awesome) We got there at 4:00pm. Raced to the best seats in the house...

See my frantic hook skills!

At about 5:00...had to sit! and still the blanket was just not growing!!! but I figured, I'll just crochet at the kids baseball games on Saturday. (good plan) We got to the park at 7 am and I crocheted like a mad woman! Now I had no plans on going to the shower...(long anti-social story) I was just going to send it with my sister or my mother but after not much talking into I caved and made plans to go...that meant a shower and actual grooming of the face and hair. That was going to cut into my crochet time! and the blanket still wasn't done! First game ended around 10:45 and I didn't have to be back until noon for the next game. So I showered and spiffied up and was ready to crochet some more hoping to finish before my mother picked me up at 3:30...FAIL.

Okay, so now I'm stressing out! The blanket is STILL not done...it's close but not quite there. The upside (as if!) the shower is an hour away! but as we where exiting the freeway and I still wasn't done!!! I'm this close to giving up! My mother suggests she stop at payless for a pair of sandals for my niece. Well that was just the right amount of time I needed...The blanket was done. Not completely...but done enough!

See the points...they shouldn't be there. I needed to make half triangles but something had to go!

and when it was done and packed in the gift box...I realized that my left hand was throbbing! It hurts so bad...I'm going to have to put it in one of those hand braces.

But it was worth it!

My man of steel...

Didn't know what to title this post...I considered "like a bat..." as in as blind as one, but it's not really true. He's just slightly near-sighted but he did pick these awesome specs his self.

Very reminiscent of good ol' Clark Kent himself...

Bait and Switch

I know I was supposed to be working on the baby entrelac blanket and I really am but I wanted to finish this quick quilt...quickly! It's perfect! I wanted to keep it for myself but...it's off to a soon-to-be born baby boy.
Pre-washing and wrinkles but I still love it! and cowboys...who can beat that!
now on to the other blanket...this boy is going to be toasty! too bad it's almost summer time!
