Falling

This was the view walking in to work this morning. It makes me wish Fall was right around the corner! I just love that time of year!

Makes me want to finish these off and wear them around!

No, these are not some weird undergarment! these will be socks! knitted socks! If I ever finish these I'll be so proud of myself!

and just so you don't think I've completely abandoned my craft...I've also been crocheting.

Just a plain giant granny baby blanket...but if you could just feel it! it's so squooshy and soft!
and just because I was feeling a little down...I even brought the sewing out!

I felt bad that the granny blanket was so tiny so I made this too...nothing fancy but still very cute!
Wow! I go missing for a bit and I come back very crafty!!!
Hope everyone is having a great summer!? and anxiously waiting the Fall like I am!

When the knot comes undone...

I blame summer for my lack of posting...it just too hot to do much of anything. This is funny because as I type...I'm sitting in my office FREEZING my butt off! damn A/C! it has no middle! just freezing or melting!
Anyway...I'm still here, still crafting...and I'm excited because I've taken up knitting again! and it seems to be going well
Drop Stitch Scarf by Christine VogelIt's a free Ravelry download and SOOOOO easy! Even I can do it!

I'm also still sewing...but just barely! I've got my brain trying to come up with a shirt/dress? not sure which yet. I've got the perfect fabric just no knowledge to execute but I don't give up so easy so I'm still trying it out.

I did make another block for the Around the world quilt swap I'm in...

This is for Tonya in Australia...I hope she likes it!

I have been crocheting but what...I have no idea!

I'll call you Anita from Florida

This is the 3rd installment from the ATWQ (around the world quilt) swap. This one belongs to Anita A. from Florida...and I think she likes it.
I like how I'm learning so much with every one of these blocks I make! I hope to not duplicate anyone of them and learn a new technique for each one. This one was curves! much more difficult then I thought it would be!

Remember at the end of last year when I was making an afghan a week? Well I do (and so do my hands!) I started hanging out with some ladies...and they each started individual projects with particular purposes in mind. We met mostly weekly to work on our sed projects. Well after Christmas we kinda took a break. Most of our work finished, expect for my friend Jan. but as of last weekend she completed her very own afghan with almost no help from me!

I'm so proud!
and a bad blogger! seems not only did I miss my 100th post, I also missed my 1 year blogiversary! I suck! but I will come up with something spectacular to make it up to me. My only hopes is to not forget my 14th wedding anniversary this Sunday!

round and round

This block goes to Courtney's quilt. I had no problems putting this one together...I did however try something new, embroidery. I don't know...not too sure about it yet.

Inexperienced

I'd like to ask you a question...Does thisResemble this?
If you maybe squint your eyes (shut) and use your imagination?
The around the world quilt is making is around...and I've just received a block. The instructions where a house, not matchy, or too modern. I think I've got the not matching down pat! but do the colors work? I feel so inexperienced! I have no idea how to put something like this together...I just did my best. Lucky for me, I have a week to decide if I'm sending on it's next stop or if I'm re-doing the whole darn thing! like maybe after I get some instructions!

What do you think?

Also I'm dangerously close to my 100th post! It very exciting!!!

Around the world...

I think I might have mentioned that I signed up for a quilting swap? I think I might have a button over on the right? Did I tell you how excited I am about it? How about, that I have to mail out my starter block by the 18th of this month? Well, it's all true!

I sat down yesterday, after I got some ideas from all the awesome blocks the ladies have put together, and made my own. It's not perfect but then neither am I, so I LOVE it. I can't wait to see how each and everyone of the ladies adds to my block.

Now it off to Nann, she'll add to it and pass it on it's next stop around the world! How cool is that!

I'm anxiously awaiting a block from Debby (?), I'll add to hers and pass it on it way around the world. Each block has 20 stops and at the end we end up with a beautifully unique quilt top?!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!

I hope you ladies had an excellent day?! I'm off to BBQ with my mom I hope she likes her gift...

Picnic anyone...my mom always has a small blankie in the car with her in case she needs to nap in the morning or when my dad cranks the A/C and she gets chilly.

Wanna Swap?

Quilt squares...come on guys! Summersadie is hosting the Quilt around the world and it looks like it will be fun. Are you in?

Mad rush...

and the pain of it all! The entrelac blanket I was working on last week was for my cousins baby shower on Saturday at 3 pm. I started it Monday night and I don't know about you but for me entrelac is VERY slow...kinda like knitting. I thought I'd be cutting it close but I would get it done...no problem. Well, I was setting myself up to fail. On Wednesday I bought the cowboy quilt supplies...you know just in case, I would still have a present to give. I did finish that Friday, all the while still working on the crochet.

See...first in line at the 5:40pm showing of X-MEN Origins- Wolverine! (awesome) We got there at 4:00pm. Raced to the best seats in the house...

See my frantic hook skills!

At about 5:00...had to sit! and still the blanket was just not growing!!! but I figured, I'll just crochet at the kids baseball games on Saturday. (good plan) We got to the park at 7 am and I crocheted like a mad woman! Now I had no plans on going to the shower...(long anti-social story) I was just going to send it with my sister or my mother but after not much talking into I caved and made plans to go...that meant a shower and actual grooming of the face and hair. That was going to cut into my crochet time! and the blanket still wasn't done! First game ended around 10:45 and I didn't have to be back until noon for the next game. So I showered and spiffied up and was ready to crochet some more hoping to finish before my mother picked me up at 3:30...FAIL.

Okay, so now I'm stressing out! The blanket is STILL not done...it's close but not quite there. The upside (as if!) the shower is an hour away! but as we where exiting the freeway and I still wasn't done!!! I'm this close to giving up! My mother suggests she stop at payless for a pair of sandals for my niece. Well that was just the right amount of time I needed...The blanket was done. Not completely...but done enough!

See the points...they shouldn't be there. I needed to make half triangles but something had to go!

and when it was done and packed in the gift box...I realized that my left hand was throbbing! It hurts so bad...I'm going to have to put it in one of those hand braces.

But it was worth it!

Bait and Switch

I know I was supposed to be working on the baby entrelac blanket and I really am but I wanted to finish this quick quilt...quickly! It's perfect! I wanted to keep it for myself but...it's off to a soon-to-be born baby boy.
Pre-washing and wrinkles but I still love it! and cowboys...who can beat that!
now on to the other blanket...this boy is going to be toasty! too bad it's almost summer time!

Taken over...

I've become completely obsessed by these bags! I love making them...and slowly my sewing is getting better! This bag is MINE! my husband took one look at it and said "That one is yours. You like those colors" and I do! the only thing that's not working for me is the handle...it just seems too dark?

and yes I am crocheting...I'm working on the Christin Crop from Blueprint Crochet by Robyn Chachula. If you don't own this book yet, you should! the designs are gorgeous! Take a look for yourself.

Oh sew crafty...

I had a great weekend! I have every other Friday off and this Friday was my off. I went supply shopping with the sister, she requested 2 bags.

and my (current) favorite, the Lots of pockets
The fabric choices were hers...with minimal (lots) of help from me.

I also finished a GIANT (Really! BIG) crocheted beach bag that I promised...I think it looks really fun but did I mention that it's HUGE!

no quilting work lately...but I will this weekend. I have 3 quilts started so I better get moving!
Saturday was all about sunburns and baseball! My sister came over for a visit...they stayed and watched the boys' baseball games and got pretty nasty sunburns in the process! That's what happens when we spend all day at the park! We hit Walmart for some nourishment and came home with pizzas and strawberry shortcake! spent the rest of the evening crafting and watching Lake View Terrace.
Sunday was spent with the Tanaka's...BBq'd tri tip is yummy! It was nice to hang out with most of the family...I don't realize I miss it until I do it.
