Falling

This was the view walking in to work this morning. It makes me wish Fall was right around the corner! I just love that time of year!

Makes me want to finish these off and wear them around!

No, these are not some weird undergarment! these will be socks! knitted socks! If I ever finish these I'll be so proud of myself!

and just so you don't think I've completely abandoned my craft...I've also been crocheting.

Just a plain giant granny baby blanket...but if you could just feel it! it's so squooshy and soft!
and just because I was feeling a little down...I even brought the sewing out!

I felt bad that the granny blanket was so tiny so I made this too...nothing fancy but still very cute!
Wow! I go missing for a bit and I come back very crafty!!!
Hope everyone is having a great summer!? and anxiously waiting the Fall like I am!

Collective...sigh!

I came this close! to finally meeting the ladies of the FIBER COLLECTIVE...this close because as I was getting out of the shower, I heard a knock at the front door. It was my baker sister. She wanted to use my kitchen to bake a cake. I couldn't kick her out so she set up shop...sort of speak. Off I twittered my misfortune...hoping I might still be able to catch the tail end of the fiber goodness but it is currently 5:58 pm as I type this and my guest is still here. I will not be making the fiber collective meet once again...sigh!
I am back to the original reason this blog began...crochet. I've been very inspired as of late...I LOVE when that happens! sometimes all it takes is the newest issue of Crochet today! to flow the creative juices...
Just finished the baseball afghan...I say finished because the circle is done...not the baseball stitching but I will...soon.

I also started the afghan for my SIL...she's due in August, so I wanted something light and lacy...Mission Accomplished!

I love the way this is coming out! No pattern...my own creation.

okay...enough for today. I am here...I'm okay...and I will be back to normal in posting and online. Off to enjoy some tres leches cake and watch game 5 of the NBA playoffs

I'll call you Anita from Florida

This is the 3rd installment from the ATWQ (around the world quilt) swap. This one belongs to Anita A. from Florida...and I think she likes it.
I like how I'm learning so much with every one of these blocks I make! I hope to not duplicate anyone of them and learn a new technique for each one. This one was curves! much more difficult then I thought it would be!

Remember at the end of last year when I was making an afghan a week? Well I do (and so do my hands!) I started hanging out with some ladies...and they each started individual projects with particular purposes in mind. We met mostly weekly to work on our sed projects. Well after Christmas we kinda took a break. Most of our work finished, expect for my friend Jan. but as of last weekend she completed her very own afghan with almost no help from me!

I'm so proud!
and a bad blogger! seems not only did I miss my 100th post, I also missed my 1 year blogiversary! I suck! but I will come up with something spectacular to make it up to me. My only hopes is to not forget my 14th wedding anniversary this Sunday!

How long...

I just never know with this things...but what's the ideal length (and width, for that matter) of a baby blanket? (gutter-minds-ladies!) Still hooking along on the entrelac baby blanket I started last week. What do you think the chances are that my SIL will pick these colors for her new baby girl?? What do you think the chances are that she might get it anyway...whatever the colors she picks!?!?!? What would you do? I've been thinking of just finishing it off and storing it...

But I really worked hard and it's just too cute to not give it away?!

...not another manic monday!

I'm liking this new me! the one that looks for the positives...no more negatives! Buck up and up and at em'! Once more around...

I've started another entrelac blanket...no destined owner but my hands just wanted to keep stitching.

I'm also in the process of starting the around the world quilt swap...I'm not sure what I want my starter square to look like...and it's important because that's how everyone else will add to it, depending on the look of your starter square. I consider myself fun and funky...but my quilt square knowledge is almost non-existent! Let's hope I come up with something awesome!!!

Mad rush...

and the pain of it all! The entrelac blanket I was working on last week was for my cousins baby shower on Saturday at 3 pm. I started it Monday night and I don't know about you but for me entrelac is VERY slow...kinda like knitting. I thought I'd be cutting it close but I would get it done...no problem. Well, I was setting myself up to fail. On Wednesday I bought the cowboy quilt supplies...you know just in case, I would still have a present to give. I did finish that Friday, all the while still working on the crochet.

See...first in line at the 5:40pm showing of X-MEN Origins- Wolverine! (awesome) We got there at 4:00pm. Raced to the best seats in the house...

See my frantic hook skills!

At about 5:00...had to sit! and still the blanket was just not growing!!! but I figured, I'll just crochet at the kids baseball games on Saturday. (good plan) We got to the park at 7 am and I crocheted like a mad woman! Now I had no plans on going to the shower...(long anti-social story) I was just going to send it with my sister or my mother but after not much talking into I caved and made plans to go...that meant a shower and actual grooming of the face and hair. That was going to cut into my crochet time! and the blanket still wasn't done! First game ended around 10:45 and I didn't have to be back until noon for the next game. So I showered and spiffied up and was ready to crochet some more hoping to finish before my mother picked me up at 3:30...FAIL.

Okay, so now I'm stressing out! The blanket is STILL not done...it's close but not quite there. The upside (as if!) the shower is an hour away! but as we where exiting the freeway and I still wasn't done!!! I'm this close to giving up! My mother suggests she stop at payless for a pair of sandals for my niece. Well that was just the right amount of time I needed...The blanket was done. Not completely...but done enough!

See the points...they shouldn't be there. I needed to make half triangles but something had to go!

and when it was done and packed in the gift box...I realized that my left hand was throbbing! It hurts so bad...I'm going to have to put it in one of those hand braces.

But it was worth it!

Oh sew crafty...

I had a great weekend! I have every other Friday off and this Friday was my off. I went supply shopping with the sister, she requested 2 bags.

and my (current) favorite, the Lots of pockets
The fabric choices were hers...with minimal (lots) of help from me.

I also finished a GIANT (Really! BIG) crocheted beach bag that I promised...I think it looks really fun but did I mention that it's HUGE!

no quilting work lately...but I will this weekend. I have 3 quilts started so I better get moving!
Saturday was all about sunburns and baseball! My sister came over for a visit...they stayed and watched the boys' baseball games and got pretty nasty sunburns in the process! That's what happens when we spend all day at the park! We hit Walmart for some nourishment and came home with pizzas and strawberry shortcake! spent the rest of the evening crafting and watching Lake View Terrace.
Sunday was spent with the Tanaka's...BBq'd tri tip is yummy! It was nice to hang out with most of the family...I don't realize I miss it until I do it.

Oh smug!

Remember me...and how I bragged about the blanket I was making, the one I thought I didn't have enough yarn for?
Sure didn't! and I found this out at 10 pm last night...too late for a Joann run. Did I mention the shower was at lunch time today? No? well it was I figured I could run to Joann's by work and get me a Caron one pound in Rose...good plan. Nope! Dang you Valencia!!! They don't carry Rose! So I drive to Michael's...they'll have it! NOPE!!! but I did have a swatch so I matched it as closely as possible...(failed miserably)
I figured I would eat cake and duck out early work through lunch and have it ready for him in the afternoon?! YES! mission accomplished!
For Miranda Griffith

(sorry, lighting sucks in the conference rooms)
I hope they like it?!

WisHy, wAshY

I feel as though I'm all over the place...spread too thin...going no where FAST. Ever have those days? Try months! I think it's school...I get completely wrapped up in myself. I've neglected friends and family and crafting. I'm slowly finding my center...where all things balance out. I called Janice and made a girl-date with her (might happen). Spring break for the boys has been a nice break...maybe D will go back to school refreshed and ready to take on the rest of the school year...and hopefully pass 8th grade?! and crafting...{smile} I've done some of that too!
This is going to SIL for a baby shower...

and I started my cowboy quilt! I'm so excited about it...I know some of you out there in blogland would rather pierce your eardrums, then listen to some country but not me...I'm a cowgirl!
I'm a little stuck...originally I wanted to make the quilt like the picture above but then I thought maybe I could add a solid on one side like this...

(I know...blurry)but you get the idea! Thoughts?
Tonight I start a diaper bag for my sister. That should be...interesting?

Oh what a feelin!

No, I'm not dancing on the ceiling...but it's pretty close! I wanted to share some fabric goodness!
I love these patterns and I can't wait to start cutting! I'm hoping this one will come out a little straighter and a little more me.
These two (3) are for separate quilt tops...The smaller squares will go together and I'll be starting on those first! and the bigger pink squares are a funky retro pattern that looked so fun I couldn't pass it up!
I'm also crocheting! I'm just about finished with a baby blanket for my SIL. I should have pictures soon...I love spring! All my creativity start flowing again!
